12/31/1929At the Lahore session, under the Presidentship of Jawaharlal Nehru, the Congress adopted a resolution of 'Poorna Swaraj' (Complete Independence), the slogan given by Gandhiji. The tricolour flag of freedom was unfurled and 26th January 1930 was decided to be celebrated as Independence day every year. This session led to Civil Disobedience Movement, Dandi March to break the Salt Law, etc.

9/22/1999Sher Shah Sur died. He was fatally wounded in an explosion on Kalanjara fort while preparing for an attack. 4/1/1985Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture was established during the 7th Plan period. The Institute started functioning independently since April 1987. The Headquarters of the Institute are located in Chennai with field and farm facilities at Muttukadu and three Research Centres at Kakdwip(West Bengal), Puri(Orissa) and Narakkal (Kerala).
