7/22/1999J. H. Patel, Karnataka Chief Minister, recommends dissolution of the Assembly and the Governor Khurshid Alam Khan accepts it. Earlier Mr. Patel drops eight Ministers including the Deputy Chief Minister Siddharamiah.
9/26/1996Deve Gowda, PM, takes oath as Rajya Sabha member. He was the first PM to enter parliament through RS. Indira Gandhi was already a RS member when elected leader in 1966.
9/22/1891Gangopadhyay Taraknath, famous novelist in Bengal, passed away.
10/20/1920Censor Board, after examining the film 'Ahilya Uddhar' on October 20, started mentioning the number of reels as well as the length in feet on the Censor Certificate. The film had already been released earlier on August 23, 1919.
