The PM announced in the Lok Sabha the conclusion of the Netaji Inquiry Committee that Netaji did die in an air-crash.

6/29/1864Dr. Asutosh Mukherjee, great judge, educationist and lawyer of Bengal, was born at Calcutta.
10/29/1964Priceless and irreplaceable gems, including the famed 'Star of India' of 563.35 carats and 2.5 inches in diameter, were stolen from the American Museum of Natural History, New York, USA, in a daring burglary. An alarm system was discontinued years ago as was the all-night guard in the gem hall, both for reasons of economy. The jewels were uninsured due to high-priced premiums. There were other jewels too that were also robbed during this time.
4/29/1939Netaji resigned from the Congress and established his own party, the Forward Block and created a political deadlock in India.
2/18/1823Gopal Hari Deshmukh, lokhitwadi, was born.
12/19/1961Goa was liberated after Portuguese surrendered to the Indian troops.
3/11/1886Anandibai Gopalrao Joshi became the first Indian lady doctor. She passed the MBBS degree from Philadelphia University of America.
3/16/1924Bhupendranath Basu, great freedom fighter, President of Congress and fluent orator, passed away.
10/1/1932Indian Milatary Academy became functional with Brigadier LP Collins, DSO, OBE as the Commandant. The first course of 40 GCs had on its rolls Sam Manekshaw, Smith Dun and Mohd Musa, later to be Chiefs of the armies of their respective countries, i.e. India, Burma (now Myanmar) and Pakistan. This training was for a period of two and a half years.
4/12/1799The Church Missionary Society was organized in London under the original name of the Society for Missions in Africa and the East. This Anglican missions agency currently works in fields located in Africa, Ceylon, India, Pakistan, Iran and Palestine.
1/25/2000The Government awards Padma Vibhushan to R.K. Narayan, Dr.M.S. Gill; Padma Bhushan for Rajnikant and Padmashri for A.R. Rehman.
